Millar & Co Wine Shop is situated in the exclusive waterfront suburb of St Heliers Bay, in Auckland. St Heliers Bay is only 8 km from the Auckland CBD and the drive around the waterfront to St Heliers Bay shows off one of the most beautiful harbours in the world. The business was originally established in 1970. Since then Millar & CO have developed a very high reputation as a retailer of Fine Food & Wine. The business is focussed very much on providing its discerning customer base with excellent wines, spirits, beer and food at competitive prices. The store was extensively remodeled and re-branded in 1997 along the lines of the English wine merchants, Berry Bros & Rudd. During the remodeling a beautiful native timber floor was found under the the old carpet. Once restored, this floor gave the shop a beautiful warm feeling. Floors were also replaced with matching timber to complement the original timber floor. |

One of the key points of interest in the refurbishment was the building of a walk-in, air-conditioned, fine wine cellar. This was the first cellar of its type built in Auckland and has enabled Millar & CO to store and age limited release wines for later sale to loyal customers. Other features installed during the refurbishment include a custom built Cigar humidor, made from aged Spanish cedar, with glass doors. Millar & CO caters to a wide selection of customers ranging from local customers, to casuals who want wine for BYO diners to people ordering by Email. The Wine Shop is part of a wine buying group, providing both everyday and serious Wine Buyers with an extensive range of affordably-different wines at fair, competitive and consistent prices. We aim to take the mystique and pretension out of wine by offering an accessible and personalised wine experience. To promote the wine shop, and generate additional sales, we run regular in-store wine tastings and also wine-themed dinners at local restaurants. We also have a considerable customer database and regularly conduct mail-outs for wine specials and deals. |
